TSDCA seizes ayurvedic medicines for misleading claims; Violates Drugs and Magic Remedies Act
Stocks of Rheuam Liniment, produced by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, were found in Asifabad, while Stolist Capsules, manufactured by Bhrigu’s Pharma in Haryana, were discovered in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Hyderabad: Stocks of two Ayurveda-based medicines Rheuam Liniment, which claimed to treat Rheumatism and Stolist Capsules being marketed to treat urinary stones, have been seized by drug inspectors of Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TSDCA), for misleading advertisements.
Stocks of Rheuam Liniment manufactured by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, were detected in Asifabad while Stolist Capsules, manufactured by Bhrigu’s Pharma, Haryana, were detected at Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The TSDCA officials, who detected the two Ayurvedic medicines circulating in the market with misleading claims on their labels, said that such claims are in contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders.
Persons who make misleading advertisements regarding drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders are punishable under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954
Public can report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana.
