TSDCA seizes medicines being circulated with misleading claims
Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders.

Hyderabad: The drug inspectors from Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (TSDCA), detected medicines circulating in the market with misleading claims on their labels, claiming that they treat diabetes, paralysis and fever, which is contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
At Kamareddy, the DCA teams seized stocks of Ayushka Plus Herbal Tonic (Ayurvedic medicine), manufactured by Thanvitha Ayurvedic Nilayam, Thorur village, Abdullapurmet, Rangareddy, with misleading claims of treating diabetes and paralysis.
The DCA authorities at Kukatpally also seized stocks of Mahasudarshan Kadha (Ayurvedic medicine), manufactured by Om Pharmaceuticals, Old Madras Road, Bengaluru, for misleading claim to treat fever.
Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders. No person shall take part in publication of advertisement regarding the diseases/disorders indicated under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, DG, TSDCA, V B Kamalsan Reddy said.
