TSFA–UNESCO workshop marks International Day of Light at MLRIT
The Telangana Science Fair Academy (TSFA), in collaboration with UNESCO, organised a workshop for undergraduate engineering students at MLR Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, to commemorate the International Day of Light. Observed annually on May 16, the day marks the anniversary of the first laser operation in 1960.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Science Fair Academy (TSFA) – UNESCO Collaborative Workshop for Undergraduate Engineering Students In commemoration of International Day of Light was conducted at MLR Institute of Technology on Tuesday.
The International Day of Light will be held on May 16 every year, the anniversary of the first successful operation of a laser in 1960. The 2025 theme focuses on ‘Light, Innovation, Society’ highlighting light’s role in driving scientific, cultural, and sustainable development globally, from medicine to communication and energy.
The event was attended by Dr. Raju Dandu, Professor, Kansas State University, USA, Dr. D. Narayana Rao, Emeritus Professor, University of Hyderabad, Dr. Sulthan Mohiddin Shariff, Scientist-F, ARCI and Convener, TSFA, Prof. Zahid Husain Khan, UNESCO National Node for India, Dr. Azizur Rahman Khan, Chairman, TSFA and Dr.Syed Salahuddin, General Secretary, TSFA.
The chairman of MLRIT Marri Laxman Reddy, Dr. K. Srinivas Rao, Principal, Dr. V. Radhika Devi, Dean H&S and Head IQAC and Prof. M. Venkateshwar Reddy, HOD, Mechanical Dept also participated. Chairman of MLRIT Marri Laxman Reddy said they encourage such events and will continue in the future too.
