Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has on Monday directed the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) to file a fresh report within 12 weeks on steps initiated for closure of 45 polluting industries in Jeedimetla.
The two-judge panel comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy issued these directions while dealing with a news item take up as a public interest litigation. The TSPCB counsel Shiv Kumar told the court that a detailed report was filed by the Board as per earlier orders and a separate task force was also set up to look into the pollution caused by the industries located in the area.
Out of the notices issued to 45 polluting industries, 16 were revoked and the remaining were under closure. The court directed that if any violations were observed by the Board with regard to the remaining industries in the area, it shall issue show cause notices to the violating Industries and give them a fixed period to respond to the notices. The Court while impleading the Police Commissioner Cyberabad directed him to cooperate in the entire exercise and file fresh report within 12 weeks.
Farmers parade on R-Day allowed
Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Monday permitted the Telangana Rashtra Rythu Sangham to take out a farmers’ parade on January 26 from Saroornagar Stadium to Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal allowing only two wheelers and four wheelers to participate from 2 pm to 5 pm. Earlier the Sangham sought permission from the police to conduct the parade from Indira Park to Peoples Plaza on Necklace Road. The police rejected the application. On a writ petition moved by the Sangham, the judge granted permission to conduct the parade from Saroornagar Stadium to Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Uppal. The judge also directed the Rachakonda Commissionerate to grant permission by imposing reasonable conditions.
