Siddipet: Several students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Maddur have taken ill during the past two days due to suspected food poisoning.
While 13 students took ill on Sunday after having dinner, another 12 students fell sick on Monday morning. They were rushed to the government hospital in Cheriyal. The doctors sent a few students, who were admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, back to the hostel.
However, they returned to the hospital again as they started suffering from vomiting and motions. All these 25 students were still under observation. They were recovering. District Medical and Health Officer Dr Dhanaraj and education department officials visited the hostel and checked the premises. They interacted with the students to know the cause of the incident. Students led by SFI leaders staged a protest at the KGBV on Monday, accusing the staff of serving poor-quality food.
