Two arrested for smuggling ganja at Secunderabad railway station
Based on a tip-off, the State Task Force team caught the two persons near the station while they were on their way to deliver the contraband to some persons
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Prohibition and Excise Department caught two persons at Secunderabad railway station on Friday night for allegedly smuggling ganja. The police seized 15 kg of the banned contraband from their possession. The arrested were identified as Manoj and Dhananjay, both natives of UttarPradesh.
Based on a tip-off, the State Task Force team caught the two persons near the station while they were on their way to deliver the contraband to some persons.
“Manoj and Dhananjay brought the weed from Odhisa by train and got down at Secunderabad railway station. They walked out of the station and were on their way to hand it over to some persons who would shift the consignment to Delhi when they were caught by the STF,” said the officials.
The sleuths seized the ganja and arrested both of them. A case was registered.
Meanwhile, the Mangalhat police arrested a man for allegedly possessing ganja and seized 1.2 kg of weed from him. The arrested, Nikhil Singh (23), a resident of GangaBowli in Mangalhat, was caught while he was carrying the ganja on his scooter, said Mangalhat Inspector, M Mahesh.
The man had allegedly purchased the weed from one Raju of Tappachabutra and planned to sell it to customers at a higher price. Raju is absconding and a team was formed to arrest him.
