Gutkha products worth Rs 3 lakh were seized from one of them
Adilabad: Two persons including an owner of a transport agency were booked on the charges of smuggling prohibited gutkha here on Tuesday. Gutkha products worth Rs 3 lakh were seized from one of them.
In-charge Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra said that the accused were Sajid Ullah Khan, a spices trader of Panjesha Colony in Adilabad town and Tabrej Khalik, the owner of a private transport agency of the district headquarters.
Sajid was found to be importing the banned product with the help of Tabrej, when Adilabad One Town Sub-Inspector G Appa Rao and his team conducted raids on latter’s agency, following a tip. Upon question, he confessed to have committed the offence for easy money. Tabrej is at large and a special team was formed to nab him. A case was booked against the duo and further investigation has been taken up.
The IPS officer warned that stringent action would be initiated against smugglers of prohibited products.
