Two booked for smuggling teak timber in Mancherial
Forest officials in Mancherial booked two individuals for smuggling teak timber during night patrols in the Thadlapet range. Timber worth Rs 22,806 was seized. While two suspects were apprehended, two others remain absconding.

Mancherial: In two different incidents, two persons were booked on charges of smuggling teak timber in Thadlapet range during a night patrolling and inspections on Wednesday night. Timber worth Rs 22,806 was seized from them.
Forest officials said that a case was registered against Shamshuddin of Patha Mamidipelli village for carrying the timber without valid permit by a motorcycle. Timber measuring 4/0.129 cubic metres was recovered from him. The value of the timber was assessed to be Rs 11,133.
In the second incident, a case was booked against Sai from the same village illegally storing timber valued at Rs 11,673, during inspections carried out by the officials, following a tip-off. Two more accused, Nagendra Varma and Sathish were still at large.
Tadlapet FRO Sushma Rao, deputy range officer Pochamallu, FSOs Naresh, Shankar, FBOs Sai and Raheemuddin took part in the patrolling.
