Adilabad: Father-son duo jailed for raping teen; woman accomplice gets 3 months
An Adilabad court sentenced two men to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined them for raping a minor girl. A woman accomplice was also jailed for three months. The court directed Rs 5 lakh compensation to be paid to the survivor.
Adilabad: A court here on Thursday sentenced a man and his father to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 each for raping a minor girl nine months ago. It also sentenced a woman to three months in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 500 for her role in the offence.
Additional district principal judge Dr P Shivaram Prasad delivered the verdict awarding the term and fine against Ingole Gangadhar (70), his son Anil (26) after finding them guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl from Adilabad Rural mandal on February 14. The court cross-questioned 18 eyewitnesses and pieces of evidence before it by public prosecutor B Praveen Kumar.
Earlier, Gangadhar and Anil were booked for sexually assaulting the girl, while a case was registered against the woman for helping the two by locking the victim in a room under the guise of offering tea. The then Sub-Inspector Syed Muzahid took up investigations and filed a charge-sheet before the court establishing the offence against all three.
The court issued an order asking the District Legal Services Authority to extend a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victim.
