Medak: Medak Police nabbed two seasoned chain snatchers, who were involved in multiple chain snatchings in Medak and Kamareddy districts on Monday.
The accused were Mohammed Abdul Khadeer (26) and Mohammed Shafi (28), both residents of Medak town. Superintendent of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy said the accused were involved in four snatchings in Medak and Kamareddy districts.
They also made two failed attempts to snatch mangalsutras of the two women. They would roam on a two-wheeler wearing helmets. On the pretext of enquiring about the address, they would come close to the women and snatch the mangalsutra.
The SP said they sold the stolen golden ornaments at a shop in Hyderabad.
The accused were reportedly addicted to online betting and they were also leading a luxurious lifestyle. To meet their needs, they decided to earn money by snatching chains.
The police recovered chains weighing six tolas of gold out of the chains weighing 12 tolas they had stolen.
