Mahabubabad: Two children drowned after accidentally falling into an open agricultural well at Enchagudem village in Kothaguda mandal on Saturday.
The victims, Itikala Rithik (9) and Jatin (7), had accompanied their parents from Hyderabad to visit their grandparents for Dasara celebrations. When the family went to another village following the death of a relative, the children stayed back at home.
While playing near the agricultural well adjacent to their grandparents’ house, the boys accidentally slipped in and drowned. Villagers, who noticed their slippers and clothes near the well, began searching and found Rithik’s body first.
Kothaguda Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar, along with villagers, later retrieved Jatin’s body. The tragic incident cast a pall of gloom over the village. Police have registered a case and taken up investigation.
