Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Two persons were arrested for transporting liquor to Gudem village and adulterating it at Kosini village in Chintalamanepalli Mandal on Saturday. Liquor worth Rs 77,500 was seized from them. Chintalamanepalli Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar said that the accused were Dandiga Shankar, an LIC agent, and Thodeti Rajesh, an auto-rickshaw driver belonging to Kosini. The two were detained when the task force personnel conducted raids on their houses following a tip off.

During the investigation, Shankar admitted to smuggling the liquor to bordering Gudem village where tipplers from Maharashtra make a beeline for consuming the alcohol. They revealed that they were filling ordinary liquor in bottles of premium alcohol meant for selling in the neighbouring State. They were secretly indulging in the offence in their homes.

Task Force Inspector Rana Prathap, Sub-Inspector Abdul Sattar, constables Madhu, Tirupati, Ramesh and Vijay took part in the operation. Meanwhile, Kaghaznagar Prohibition and Excise Inspector T Mahender Singh said that stern action would be taken against those who trade liquor through belt shops and sell adulterated liquor.

He stated that certain persons were committing the offence in Gudem, Kosini, Dimda and other villages following huge demand for the alcohol among tipplers of Maharashtra.
