Two inter-State burglars held in Mancherial
Disclosing the details of the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Police D Uday Kumar said that the accused Rahul Shetty, an auto-rickshaw driver and his relative Satyavati belong to Jagdalapur in Chhattisgarh
Mancherial: Two inter-state burglars were arrested by Ramakrishnapur police when they were trying to dispose of their booty in Bellampalli on Tuesday. As many as 750 grams of gold and 800 grams of silver ornaments were recovered from the two.
Disclosing the details of the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Police D Uday Kumar said that the accused Rahul Shetty, an auto-rickshaw driver and his relative Satyavati belong to Jagdalapur in Chhattisgarh. Another accused Suraj Shetty, husband of Satyavati is absconding. The three were residing in Sri Sri Nagar of Mancherial town. The two were taken into custody when they were moving suspiciously during a vehicle check, following a tip.
During the course of the interrogation, Rahul and Satyavati confessed to stealing gold and silver ornaments with the help of Suraj to lead a lavish lifestyle from 2017. They admitted that Suraj would select houses under the guise of operating auto-rickshaw in the day time and they would break into houses in the nights in Ramakrishnapur, Mancherial, Mandamarri and Kaspet mandals.
Satyavati would guard the houses while Rahul and Suraj decamp with ornaments. The three were booked for allegedly involving in burglaries in Jagdalpur in the past and moved to Mancherial district headquarters to commit the crimes. They were targeting locked houses and would break open doors using iron rods. They were charged with 16 offences reported in different parts of the district so far.
Uday Kumar commended Ramakrishnapur Sub-Inspector K Ravi Prasad and his team members for showing spontaneity in apprehending the two. Bellampalli ACP Raheman and Mandamarri Inspector Adla Mahesh were present.
