Two killed, four others injured as mini-truck overturns in Jangaon

Jangaon: Two people died and four other sustained serious injuries when a mini-truck overturned near Mondikunta stage of Bachannapet mandal in the district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Munikuntla Chennamma (60) of Jangaon town and Budige Mallesham (47) of Cherial village of Siddipet district.
The injured including driver Anil, Chenamma’s daughter-in-law M Jyothi, granddaughter M Sweety and grandson M Sai Charan have been shifted to the Jangaon government area hospital for treatment.
According to the police, a total of 13 people from Cherial went to Medaram to have the darshan of tribal goddess Sammakka-Sarakka in the truck and they were returning on Monday. When they reached Jangaon, Chennamma and her family members boarded the vehicle which belonged to their relative and driver Anil. Chennamma was on her way to Gajwel.
When the truck reached the Mondikunta stage, Anil tried to overtake a bus but was forced to apply sudden breaks to avoid colliding with a motorcycle coming in the opposite direction which sent the vehicle topsy-turvy. Chenamma and Mallesham died on the spot.
The bodies have been shifted to the Jangaon area hospital for postmortem. Bachannapet SI Laxman Rao has visited the spot and registered a case. Police said that the rash and negligent driving of Anil led to the accident.
