Two killed, nine injured in reactor blast at Telangana pharma unit
Two workers were killed and nine others injured after a reactor blast triggered a fire at a pharma company in Pochampally mandal of Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district late Friday night, police said. Two injured workers suffered more than 50 per cent burns.
Nalgonda: Two workers died and two others are in critical condition following a reactor explosion at an industrial unit on the outskirts of Dothigudem village in Bhoodan Pochampally mandal of Yadadri-Bhongir district.
Ten people sustained severe injuries in the incident, which reportedly occurred while workers were on the night shift. The explosion triggered massive flames and thick smoke that engulfed the area. Ten workers, including those from Bihar, who were working near the reactor were injured, according to reports.
The company management immediately shifted the injured to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment. The loud blast triggered panic among the workers and fear among residents of nearby villages.
On learning about the incident, Choutuppal Rural CI Satish Reddy, SI Jagan and other police personnel rushed to the spot. Fire engines also arrived and brought the flames under control.
This was not the first accident at the company. A worker had died in an accident at the unit last month. The consecutive accidents have caused concern and fear among residents of the village, reports added.
