Two labourers die as old agricultural well collapses in Peddapalli

Two labourers died and another sustained injuries after an old agricultural well collapsed at Jayyaram village in Palakurthy mandal of Peddapalli district on Tuesday. The victims were preparing cement rings inside the well when the incident occurred. Police launched a rescue operation

Peddapalli: Two labourers died and another was injured when an old agricultural well caved in at Jayyaram of Palakurthy mandal on Tuesday.

The incident occurred while the labourers were engaged in the preparation of cement rings inside the old well. Rechavani Rajaiah, Bimoju Anjaiah and Sagar, who were engaged in the work, were trapped under the debris.


While Rajaiah and Anjaiah died on the spot, Sagar sustained injuries. Sagar was shifted to Peddapalli hospital. While Rajaiah belonged to Peddapalli, Anjaiah was from Vadkapur of Julapally mandal.

On learning about the incident, police rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation. The body of a labourer was retrieved from the well.
