Two Maoist militia members arrested in Mulugu

The police seized explosives along with accessories used for making land mines from the possession of the accused

Mulugu: Venkatapur police have arrested two Maoist militia members in the Tadapala forest area on Friday. They were identified as Kikkidi Bheema alias Deggadu alias Degga alias Bheemudu alias mukkidi Iduma, B section militia commander of Pujari Kanker RPC and Daadi Ramesh, Militia member. According to a press release, they are the residents of Usoor Mandal, Bijapur District, Chattisgarh State.

It is said that they had been working as Militia members for the CPI (Maoist) party for last few years and they had participated in several unlawful and sabotage activities during this time. They are involved in several cases of PS Venkatapuram under the UAPA Act. “They assisted Naxals in their activities by providing food and shelter and informing them about police party movement in the area. They were given training by the Naxals on how to handle and plant landmines and spikes in order to kill the police party. Thereafter, Naxals regularly provided him with explosive material and accordingly, they planted landmines in several areas near their villages in order to target police personnel and to deter their movement in the area,” SP Sangram Singh said.


“The CPI Maoist party main leaders handed them over some explosive materials and instructed them to plant the same in foot tracks from Tadapala to Pujarikanker route where police party frequently go for combing operations. As per their instructions today at early hours, they along with militia members of Tadapala, Pamunuru, Chelimela, Kasturipadu, Bheemaram, Rampuram villages proceeded towards Tadapala forest area to plant the land mines,” the SP said adding that the police had seized explosives along with accessories used for making land mines from the possession of the accused.
