Kothagudem: Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the National Park area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
According to police, an exchange of fire had been underway since Friday night. A joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), and Special Task Force (STF) launched a search operation on Thursday following intelligence inputs about the presence of senior Maoist leaders in the area.
In the past two days, security forces eliminated two top Maoist leaders — CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member and Revolutionary Political School (RePoS) in-charge Thentu Laxminarasimha Chalam alias Gautham alias Sudhakar, and Telangana State Committee member Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar — on Thursday and Friday respectively.
