Adilabad: Two men from Maharashtra were arrested on charges of attempting to abduct a woman from Uttar Pradesh and trying to rape her at Neerala village in Jainath mandal on Friday. Police seized a motorcycle from them.
Jainath Inspector Shravan Kumar said that Ashok Bhumanna Buttawar and Sanjeev Nagorao Navale, both from Yavatmal district, were apprehended for trying to kidnap and sexually assault a woman from Uttar Pradesh.
The victim arrived in Adilabad town by train on June 8. She eventually approached the men after losing her way in the town. Instead of helping her reach the railway station, the two allegedly took her to Neerala on a motorcycle with the intention of raping her. They left her on a road after assaulting her when she raised an alarm. Some passersby admitted her to RIMS-Adilabad.
The woman lodged a complaint with the Jainath police. A case was registered against the two and an investigation has been taken up.
