Sangareddy: As the inflows to Manjeera swelled, irrigation officials of Singur lifted two more crest gates on Saturday morning to let 43,176 cusecs water flow down to the river course.

In addition to the three crest gates lifted on Friday, the officials lifted No.6 and No.10 gates of the multipurpose project on Saturday, taking the total to five gates that were opened.

The project was receiving over 24,000 cusecs of water. However, the officials were expecting that the inflows would swell as the day progressed owing to heavy rains in the catchment area.

The project had 21.849 TMCft of water against its full capacity of 29.91 TMCft of water. Meanwhile, TG Genco is operating the power plant. Irrigation officials have kept the people living downstream along the river course on high alert.
