Khammam: Two more integrated vegetable and meat markets were being constructed in Khammam city for the benefit of residents, said Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
He said steps were being taken to ensure that vegetables, fruits, meat, fish and other essential items would be available in one place for the convenience of citizens of Khammam, which was growing day by day, by constructing integrated markets.

Ajay Kumar on Wednesday inspected the construction work of the markets at Khanapuram and VDOs Colony each to be built with an expenditure of Rs 4.50 crore. Each market was being built on an area of 2.01 acres. There would be a total of 134 stalls, of which 65 would be vegetable stalls, 23 fruit stalls and 46 would be meat stalls, the minister informed. He directed Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi and concerned authorities to expedite the construction work.

To avoid congestion on roads the officials were directed to take steps to ensure road connectivity on all possible sides without any hindrance to the traffic flow. The markets should have enough parking space, green cover, drinking water facility and seating benches, Ajay Kumar suggested.

He said that after the formation of the Telangana government measures were being taken for the development of villages and towns. A vegetable and meat market built at the new bus stand in Khammam was giving good results and people were happy to find all items in one place.
