Two persons burnt alive in road accident in Khammam

High-speed truck collision on Khammam-Warangal National Highway leaves two people dead.

Khammam: Two persons were burnt to death as two trucks collided head-on on Khammam-Warangal national highway, near Mekala Thanda of Tirumalayapalem mandal in the district, on Tuesday.

A coal laden truck going Maharashtra from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh collided with the truck coming towards Khammam from Maripeda in Mahabubabad with a potato load.


The high speed collision caused a fire in the coal truck as a result of which the driver of coal truck and another person were burnt alive.

On receiving information from the locals Tirumalayapalem SI, K Jagadish and staff along with fire personnel rushed to the spot, and extinguished the fire.

The accident caused over a five kilometre long traffic jam  on either sides of the highway. The identity of the deceased persons are yet to be ascertained.
