Kothagudem: Two CPI (Maoist) Central Committee members (CCM) from Telangana, each carrying a reward of Rs 40 lakh, were killed in an encounter in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, on Monday.
The CCMs, Katta Ramachandra Reddy, alias Raju Dada, and Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy, alias Kosa Dada, were killed in the encounter that took place in the Abhujmad area, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Gudiya told the media.
A search operation was launched by security forces on intelligence inputs regarding Maoist movement in the Abhujmad region on the Chhattisgarh–Maharashtra border. One AK-47 rifle, one INSAS rifle, one BGL launcher, a large quantity of explosives, and Maoist literature were recovered from the encounter site.
The 63-year-old Raju Dada, known by aliases Gudsa Usendi, Vijay, and Vikalp, and the 67-year-old Kosa Dada, known by aliases Gopanna and Buchanna, belonged to Karimnagar in Telangana. They were active in the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee for over three decades and were masterminds behind numerous violent incidents, the SP said.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said that decisive operations against the Maoist outfit have delivered a major setback to the organisation. Despite difficult terrain and adverse weather, security forces in Bastar continue their fight against the Maoists.
He appealed to Maoist cadres and their leadership to accept the reality that the Maoist movement is nearing its end. It is time they realise there is no alternative but to quit violence and return to mainstream life by surrendering to the police.
