Two workers from West Bengal injured in railway bridge mishap in Asifabad
Two workers from West Bengal sustained serious injuries after being trapped under a heavy iron block during railway bridge construction near Kagaznagar in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. Akbar was rescued quickly and taken to Kagaznagar hospital, while Ravi was extricated after two hours and shifted to Warangal for treatment.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Two workers sustained serious injuries when a block of an iron bridge slid on them near Kagaznagar town on Wednesday. The bridge, being constructed by Indian Railways on the third railway line and across Peddavagu situated between Kazipet and Balharshah junctions.
Sources said that workers identified as Akbar and Ravi from West Bengal, engaged in construction of the bridge sustained injuries when they were trapped under an iron block weighing 5,000 tonnes which fell on them reportedly due to safety lapses while installing the blocks. They suffered profuse bleeding after being stuck between the block and railway track. Akbar was extricated and sent to a hospital in Kagaznagar.
However, it took around two hours to extricate Ravi from the mangle of metal. A team of doctors was requisitioned to provide medical support to him at the site, while efforts were being made to pull him out.
Experts managed to rescue him and he was shifted to a hospital in Warangal for better treatment. The medical condition of the two workers was said to be stable. Five workers were discharging their duties at the time of the mishap. The remaining three escaped unhurt.
Colleagues of the workers expressed concern over their safety at the worksite. They said that they were working in dangerous conditions, risking their lives. They demanded compensation for the injured persons.
They urged Railway officials to take steps to enhance safety at the site and prevent similar accidents in future.
