Nirmal: Two youngsters drowned in a stream while a raft, in which they were travelling, capsized in it at Narsapur (G) mandal centre on Friday.

Police said that Abdul Arsad (22) and MA Rizwanuddin (20) from the village drowned when the raft made of thermocol sheets overturned in the stream. They entered the stream for a swim. Local fishermen retrieved the two from the stream and shifted to a hospital. Doctors declared that the duo was brought dead.

Arsad and Rizwan along with four of their friends visited the stream in the afternoon. Their friends who were standing on the banks of the stream alerted local fishermen, who attempted to rescue the two, but in vain. Arsad studied intermediate and was working as a daily-wage earner. He was planning to migrate to Dubai in search of livelihood in the short future. Rizwan was also a daily-wage laborer.
