Two youths booked under POCSO case gets life imprisonment in Khammam

Khammam: The first additional district and sessions judge K Uma Devi on Thursday sentenced two youths booked under the POCSO Act to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2.10 lakh each.
The prime accused Kalepally Sampath of Ramanagutta and second accused Pasuvula Naveen of Manchikanti Nagar of Khammam were convicted of kidnapping and committing sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl, informed Khanapuram Haveli Inspector of Police, Bhanu Prakash.
According to the prosecution, on February 7, 2021, the duo came to the girl who was playing outside her house, forcibly took her on a motorcycle and sexually assaulted her in a deserted area on the outskirts of the city. A case was registered at Khanapuram Haveli police station based on the complaint of the girl’s parents under Sections 376 (ab), 366, 294(b), 323, 506,109 of IPC and Section 4 and 17 of POCSO Act.
After the investigation and collection of evidence, the chargesheet was filed in the court. The judge after hearing the case found Sampath, and Naveen, who assisted the former in raping the girl guilty in the case and gave the verdict, Bhanu Prakash said.
Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt appreciated public prosecutor A Shankar, CI Venkanna Babu (currently DSP Intelligence), CI Bhanuprakash and court duty constables Srinivas Rao and Nageswara Rao for ensuring that the accused were punished in the crucial case.
It was learnt that Sampath was involved in more than 12 cases such as thefts and others while Naveen was involved in five cases in the past.
