Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at the City Central Library in Chikkadpally on Friday as several unemployed youth staged a flash protest, demanding immediate recruitment notifications and fulfilment of job promises made by the government.
The protesters gathered at the library premises in the evening, holding placards and raising slogans against the government, questioning the delay in filling vacant posts across various government departments.
The agitating youth questioned the government’s assurance of providing two lakh jobs annually and demanded clarity on its implementation. They demanded that the state government introduce a comprehensive job calendar in the upcoming State Assembly session, outlining a clear schedule for recruitment examinations and appointments.
Among their key demands was the release of a Mega DSC notification for 15,000 teaching posts. They also called for the immediate filling of 7,500 vacancies in the GPO department. In addition, the protesters demanded fresh notifications to fill 2,000 posts under Group-II services and 3,000 posts under Group-III services.
The demonstrators further sought the withdrawal of GO Numbers 46 and 29, alleging that these government orders were adversely affecting recruitment prospects. Another major demand included the immediate recruitment of 20,000 police personnel to strengthen the state’s law enforcement system while providing employment opportunities to eligible candidates.
Chikkadpally police said it was a peaceful protest within the library premises and that the situation was under control. However, as a precautionary measure, police personnel were deployed in large numbers at the protest site to prevent any untoward incidents.
