Hyderabad: Anger and frustration against the Telangana Congress government prevailed at the Dharna Chowk here on Friday as hundreds of unemployed youth hit the streets, demanding release of notifications for two lakh jobs in various departments.

Raising slogans of ‘Where are the two lakh jobs?’ and ‘Stop playing with our future!’, the unemployed youth accused the State government of betraying them with hollow promises.

The protesters, who turned up in large numbers from various libraries and hostels questioned the government on mega DSC, police recruitment, and Group vacancies, asking when the notifications would be released.

“During assembly elections campaigning, the Congress party promised 2 lakh jobs within one year. Now, it has been 18 months and not a single major notification has been issued. We have been preparing day and night, and now we are losing time and eligibility,” said Naresh, a Group job aspirant.

Rekha Singh, a Group – I aspirant, criticized the government claims of filling up 50,000 vacancies in one year. “Notifications for these 50,000 vacancies were issued during the BRS government besides exams were conducted and some results were also released. This government just gave appointment letters and took credit for the past government’s notifications,” she said.

Janardhan Anumulapuri, a Group job aspirant and unemployed youth leader, said “we do not want a job calendar as it will delay the recruitment process, risking the disqualification of several candidates over the upper age criteria. We want immediate release of notifications for two lakh jobs.”

Hussain, a government job aspirant, added, “There is only one case on the Group – I recruitment. But the government has not been releasing notification citing court cases. There are several vacancies in the TRANSCO and Telangana Power Generation Company but no notification is issued so far.”

Unemployed youth demand:

• Immediate release of notifications for two lakh jobs

• Notify mega DSC

• Release notification for 20,000 police constable vacancies

• Issue notifications for 2,000 Group – II and 5,000 Group – III posts
