Khammam: Unemployed youth in Khammam took out a protest rally on Thursday and staged a dharna at Ambedkar Centre, demanding that the State government issue job notifications. The protest was held under the banner of ‘Khammam Unemployed Youth JAC’. Over 1000 unemployed youth marched on the streets, demanding the release of the job calendar, implementation of the Youth Declaration of the Congress, and notifications for two lakh jobs.
BRS leader Enugula Rakesh Reddy, addressing the rally, said that the unemployed youth in the State were unhappy with the Revanth Reddy government. Recent protests by unemployed youth in Mahabubabad and Thursday’s rally in Khammam prove this. He reminded that the Telangana movement also took root in erstwhile Khammam, with unemployed youth supporting the Mulki, non-Mulki Movement. Similarly, the youth had now started their fight against the Congress government’s failures.
Rakesh Reddy alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was fighting against vote theft, but not speaking about the job theft committed by the Congress government in Telangana in Group-1 jobs. To cover up its mistakes, the State government was spending crores of rupees on lawyers, he said.
During the last Assembly elections, the Congress made tall promises to youth in the State to come to power. But after coming to power, it forgot and abandoned the unemployed, just as it uses and abandons campaign materials after elections, he noted.
The protestors demanded an inquiry into irregularities in the recruitment of constables, teachers, Group exams, DSC, and DSC sports quota. They also wanted GO 46 to be repealed, besides unemployment benefits and free scooters for female students.
