Hyderabad: A tense atmosphere prevailed once again in Dilsukhnagar on Tuesday as a large number of unemployed youth and government job aspirants launched a flash protest demanding the government to enhance police job vacancies for recruitment.
Beating drums, protesters, who gathered at Dilsukhnagar crossroads, raised slogans against the government and expressed their frustration over the government’s proposed plans to announce limited police job vacancies for recruitment.
The government, according to protesters, plans to issue recruitment notifications for only 5,000 vacancies in the Police department, while there are 20,000 vacancies. They demanded the government notify a mega recruitment drive, with a total 20,000 vacancies as thousands of aspirants have spent years preparing for police jobs.
The traffic movement took a hit as the large number of unemployed staged the sit-in protest on Dilsukhnagar main road. Police swung into action to disperse the crowd.
Arguments and scuffles ensued when police allegedly used force to bring the situation under control. Several protesters were reportedly dragged into police vans and shifted to various police stations.
For the past several days, the unemployed youth have been holding a series of protests demanding enhancement in police job vacancies besides issuance of other recruitment notifications.
