Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay shot back at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his remarks to name the area of BJP office after Communist revolutionary Balladeer Gaddar, reminding him of how the Congress had insulted the poet and writer in the past.

He also wanted the Chief Minister to focus on implementing the six guarantees and 420 fake promises rather than indulging in petty politics.

The Congress and BJP have been at loggerheads over the Central government not considering the names recommended by Telangana government for Padma awards. While the Union Minister had questioned how Gaddar could be considered for the prestigious award, the Chief Minister on Friday said the area in which the BJP office is housed would be named after Gaddar.

Taking to X on Saturday, the BJP MP said “Couldn’t help but laugh at Congress CM, who thinks renaming a street is some kind of revenge for not giving a Padma award. Is this child’s play?,”

Here is Bandi Sanjay’s post.

Who insulted Gaddar throughout his life? Congress.
Who used Gaddar as an interlocutor and called naxals for meeting? Congress.
Who…

He also said “Who insulted Gaddar throughout his life? Congress.

Who used Gaddar as an interlocutor and called naxals for meeting? Congress. Who slapped a UAPA case on him? Congress. Who filed 21 cases against Gaddar? Congress. Who made him roam around police stations? Congress,”

The BJP MP said setting aside party affiliations — leaders like Dudilla Sripada Rao, Chittem Narasimha Reddy, many more leaders, IPS Officers and countless police families became victims of naxalism. Being the Home Minister of Telangana, how can you prioritise politics over the pain of so many families? he asked.

Giving a new twist to the ongoing tussle between the Congress and BJP over the issue, the BJP MP challenged the names of Hyderabad and a few other districts.

“Also, since you are interested in changing names and if you really have guts, first change Hyderabad’s name to Baghyanagar, Nizamabad’s name to Induru, and your own district’s name to Palamuru,” Bandi Sanjay said, adding “Telangana isn’t your personal playground, and BJP will eventually undo every mockery Congress tries to pull”.
