Hyderabad: A unique technique to perform hysterectomy, which is the surgical removal of the uterus, developed by senior surgeon from Hyderabad at Care Hospitals, Dr Vipin Goel, was published in the July edition of the reputed- International Surgery Journal (ISJ). The technique is known as ‘GOEL’s technique of Laparascopic Hysterectomy for Endometrium Carcinoma’.
The removal of uterus is common among women with endometrial carcinoma or uterine cancer. In such situations, the uterus is removed and the procedure is known as hysterectomy.
Dr Goel’s technique consists of a sequence of ten operative steps performed from initiation of dissection to completion of surgery. The sequence of the steps and the distinct way it is carried out without the use of vaginal manipulators or Myoma screws make this technique unique, said a press release from Care Hospital.
The main quality of the technique, which has been standardised, is the emphasis given on the identification of anatomical parts, which are not amputated till proper identification is done. This involves separation of the ureter, bladder and rectum in the safe plane before performing a hysterectomy. The safety perspective is addressed very appropriately in Dr. Goel’s technique, the release added.
