Hyderabad: Number of vacancies to be recruited through the Civil Services examination has come down for 2025.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday notified the Civil Services Examination 2025 for a total of 979 vacancies as against 1,056 vacancies in the last year. This means, the vacancies for recruitment have come down by 77. Of the total posts notified for recruitment, 38 vacancies have been reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability categories.

The examination comprises two stages- preliminary (objective type) for selection of candidates for Main exam (descriptive) followed by interviews or personality test for selection candidates for various services. This year, the UPSC will hold the preliminary exam on May 25.

There are 80 centers in the country, including Hyderabad and Warangal, where the preliminary exam will be conducted.

The online application can be filled on the website https://upsconline.gov.in. upto February 11 (6 pm). Around 55,000 aspirants from Telangana are expected to apply.

All graduates above the age of 21 years are eligible to appear for the examination. The maximum age limit is 32 years for candidates belonging to the general category and EWS, 35 years for other BCs and 37 years for aspirants belonging to the SC and ST categories.

Similarly, the number of attempts for general and EWS candidates stands at 6, and 9 for OBCs. There is no limitation on the number of attempts for the SCs and STs.

“Candidates should exercise due care while filling in the preliminary form. Apart from the usual information, they are expected to give various details like optional selected, medium of examination for the main, general studies and medium of examination for the optional. Once given, these cannot be changed at a later date. Also due diligence should be exercised in case an aspirant is claiming reservation under the EWS and OBC category,” said Gopala Krishna, Director Brain Tree.
