Hyderabad: Massive preparations are under way across the US for the celebration of Telangana Formation Day and BRS silver jubilee on June 1.
BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala said the celebrations at the Comerica Centre in Frisco, Texas, would have BRS working president KT Rama Rao as the chief guest.
Preparatory meetings in Austin, New Jersey and Raleigh witnessed enthusiastic participation from NRIs and former BRS elected representatives. Over 300 delegates attended the Austin meeting, where former MLAs, including Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy and Peddi Sudharshan Reddy, highlighted Telangana’s achievements under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership and called for continued support to the BRS.
At the meeting in New Jersey, former MP Balka Suman and former MLAs Gadari Kishore and Chanti Kranthi Kiran criticised the Congress government for stalling development initiated by the previous BRS regime and urged NRIs to support BRS’ vision. At Raleigh and Holy Springs in North Carolina, leaders from the Telangana Telugu associations pledged full support to the Dallas event, Bigala said.
Over the next two days, the BRS leaders will participate in meetings to be held in Houston, Delaware, California and Dallas. A special gathering is scheduled for May 30 to build momentum ahead of Rama Rao’s arrival.
Rama Rao’s US tour will include interactions with the diaspora during celebrations at Comerica Centre on June 1. The next day, i.e., June 2, he will address Indian students at the University of Texas in Dallas and speak on innovation and entrepreneurship. He will also pay tribute at the Gandhi statue on the campus, Bigala said.
