Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan advised the people on Tuesday to utilise the medical and other facilities provided in the district headquarters government hospital.
The Collector was speaking after inaugurating a 12 bed ICU ward constructed on the first floor of the district headquarters hospital. While Hyderabad-based firm Laurus Lab donated about Rs 30 lakh worth beds and other equipment, Nirman, an NGO, arranged other infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnan said before the Covid pandemic, people used to underestimate government hospitals. Scores of corona patients who got treatment in the district headquarters hospital were rescued with the treatment provided by doctors and nurses with commitment. With this, the confidence among the public in the government hospitals was developed, he said.
The services provided to covid patients by doctors and nurses were immense. Not only Covid patients, but other patients in serious condition could also utilise the beds arranged in the ICU ward.
Karnan appreciated Laurus lab and Nirman NGO for providing infrastructure to the ICU unit. Besides beds, 25 oxygen cylinders, two ventilators, and other instruments were donated by Laurus lab.
Hospital superintendent Ratnamala, RMO Chandrashekhar, Laurus lab senior vice-president Ch Sitaramaiah, AGM Pavan Kumar, Nirman NGO president Gopi, doctors and nurses were present.
