Hyderabad: Two persons who allegedly stole Covaxin and Covishield vaccine vials from a government health centre in the old city were arrested by the Mirchowk police on Tuesday. The police recovered the vaccines and other stolen articles from them.

The arrested persons were Javeed Khan alias Jadoo (28) and Ghouse Pasha (27), both residents of Kalikhabar in Mirchowk police station limits.

According to the police, the duo broke into the Urban Primary Health Centre at Jambagh on Sunday after breaking the door lock and made away with 41 vaccine vials and other articles kept in the pharmacy.

The theft was noticed by staff who reached the centre for duty on Monday. Mirchowk Inspector M Appalanaidu and team nabbed the two persons and recovered the property on Monday night itself, police said.

Ghouse Pasha was previously involved in four cases registered in Chaderghat, Sultan Bazaar and Chilkalguda police station limits while Javeed was involved in two cases in Begum Bazaar and Chilkalguda. Both of them were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
