Vemulawada Goshala bulls go missing: Minister’s recommendation alleged in allocation of bulls
The temple authorities allegedly allocated the 'kodelu' to the society based on the recommendation of Endowment Minister Konda Surekha by violating norms
Rajanna-Sircilla: The allocation of Kodelu (bulls) of the goshala run by the Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada to the Sri Rajeshwara Society, has triggered a controversy with some of the bulls going missing.
The temple authorities allegedly allocated the ‘kodelu’ to the society based on the recommendation of Endowment Minister Konda Surekha by violating norms. Though the BJP and other right wing organizations found fault with authorities for allocating the bulls to unauthorized persons following the recommendation of the Endowment Minister, temple authorities have claimed that the bulls were allocated to the society following norms.
The temple authorities, who used to give the bulls to other goshalas across the State, had stopped the practice in the wake of misuse of the bulls and started giving bulls only to farmers. However, allegations are that the authorities allocated the bulls to the society violating norms.
According to sources, Madasi Rambabu, president of Sri Rajeshwara Society, Manugoda, Geesukonda mandal of Warangal district, had on August 12, 2024, submitted an application to the Endowment Minister requesting her to instruct the Vemulawada temple authorities for allocation of the bulls. The Minister endorsed the letter, which was handed over to temple authorities by Rambabu. Based on the Minister’s endorsement, temple authorities allegedly allocated 60 bulls to Rambabu. However, out of the 60, 49 bulls have gone “missing” from the custody of Sri Rajeshwara Society. This came to light when the Geesukonda police conducted checks based on a complaint lodged by some local youth on November 29.
Besides registering a case against Rambabu, the Geesukonda police also wrote a letter to the Vemulawada temple authorities seeking their reply. Temple authorities claimed that only two bulls were given to Rambabu on October 4. Besides Rambabu, farmers from Geesukonda, Manugonda, Anantharam, Chalapathi, Duggondi and Warangal were also given bulls from October 4 to 13.Responding to the issue, Temple Executive Officer Vinod Reddy termed the illegal supply of the bulls as false and claimed that no society was allocated bulls. Only farmers were given the bulls, that too, as per norms, he said. The bulls would have tags fixed to their ears. The tags were impossible to be removed, unless the ears were chopped off, he said, adding that the explanation to the police would be given. It has also been decided to lodge a complaint with the police against newspapers publishing wrong news, he said.
