Hyderabad: Senior actor Nagaiah who won laurels with his performance in the movie ‘Vedam’, passed away on Saturday. He was 77.
Popular as ‘Vedam’ Nagaiah, the actor was suffering from age-related issues and succumbed to illness at his residence in Dechavaram village in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
A native of Guntur, Nagaiah made his mark with his performance as Ramulu in Krish Jagarlamudi’s ‘Vedam’. Having attracted the attention of many with his acting skills, he worked in more than 30 movies including ‘Ye Maya Chesave’, ‘Ramayya Vasthavayya’, ‘Spyder’ and ‘Nagavalli’.
Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, K T Rama Rao and the Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) had helped the actor financially while he was facing a crisis some time back. Nagaiah received a pension of Rs 2500 per month.
KT Rama Rao in a message today expressed his condolences at the passing away of Nagaiah and said the actor had created an impact with his fine performance as Sircilla Ramulu in the movie ‘Vedam’. The Minister recalled meeting the actor and interacting with him.
