Veteran surgeon, Dr DLN Prasad, a pioneer in plastic surgery, passes away at 91
Dr. DLN Prasad, a pioneering plastic surgeon who established the first Plastic Surgery department in unified Andhra Pradesh at Osmania General Hospital in 1972, passed away at his residence in Hyderabad at the age of 91.

Hyderabad: Noted plastic surgeon Dr. DLN Prasad, who established the first Plastic Surgery department in unified Andhra Pradesh at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in 1972, has passed away at his residence in Banjara Hills. He was 91.
Born into an agricultural family in 1935 in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Prasad completed MBBS in 1961 and completed his MS in General Surgery in 1964 from Andhra Medical College (AMC), Visakhapatnam.
In 1964, Dr. Prasad joined the Department of General Surgery at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, where he served as an Assistant Professor until 1969. He subsequently pursued an MCh in Plastic Surgery at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.
Beyond his clinical excellence and academic contributions, senior doctors in Hyderabad recall Dr Prasad’s deep passion for horticulture. He is also credited with establishing the well-known Bonsai Garden at Ramoji Film City.
Dr. Prasad is survived by his wife and two daughters. The bereaved family members and friends stated that the cremation was held at Mahaprasthanam, Jubilee Hills, which was attended by close relatives and friends.
