Hyderabad: BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao on Sunday reached out to 12 migrant workers from Telangana trapped in Jordan and promised them action to reunite them with their families back home.

The workers, who left the State a year ago in search of jobs in the Gulf, are facing severe hardships with no money in hand and their company refusing to let them return. They recently shared a video detailing their struggles, begging for help just to survive and appealing directly to Harish Rao to bail them out of the misery.

Contacting the group over the phone, the senior BRS leader reassured them: “As soon as we came to know about your troubles, we brought it to the attention of the State government and union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay. The Ministry of External Affairs is now involved, and we’re doing everything possible to bring you back to Telangana. Stay strong and don’t lose hope.”

The workers stranded in Jordan hailed from different villages in Nirmal, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Jagtial and Siddipet. Left without funds or clearance to leave, they requested Harish Rao to at least help them make it back to their villages. The BRS leader took up the issue with top officials and committed to following it up until the workers are safely home.

Mettu Mutyam from Koochanpalli in Nirmal, Vanga Bhaskar, Raj Kumar and Ganesh from Kamareddy district, Valget Gangadhar from Erugatla in Nizamabad, Macharla Swami from Kamareddy, Narsinglu and Gummula Manohar from Jagtial, Pendyala Mahendar and Pochaiah from Siddipet, Srinivas from Nizamabad were among those waiting in Jordan for rescue.
