Warangal Urban: Appreciating the efforts of the ‘SHE’ team members in curbing eve-teasing, stalking and other means of harassment of women, Warangal Police Commissioner P Pramod Kumar on Wednesday urged them to work to instill confidence among girls/women on safety and security.
He has flagged off the scooters handed over to 10 SHE team members as a part of strengthening the teams here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Kumar said that the police had booked as many as 43 FIRs against the eve-teasers or stalkers besides booking 290 petty cases against such persons in the last two years. “Counselling was held for 280 persons to deter them from committing offences like eve-teasing, stalking and harassment of the girls/women,” he added.
As many as eight SHE teams with a total of 40 members are working under the Warangal police commissionerate limits which has jurisdiction over Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural and Jangaon districts. All the members of the SHE teams would be handed over the scooters in a phased manner, according to the police officials.
