Warangal Urban: Gang of thieves busted, property worth Rs 14 lakh recovered

Warangal Urban: In a joint operation, Central Crime Station (CCS) police and Dharmasagar police arrested a six-member gang of thieves and recovered stolen property worth Rs 14 lakh including gold and silver ornaments besides seizing a car, an LED TV, a home theatre speaker, two cellphones, a tab and a talwar from their possession on Thursday.
The arrested have been identified as Tandra Pradeep alias Rayudu of Gudem village of Dandepalli mandal in Mancherail district, Shanigarpu Rajasekhar of Tandoor village of Mancherial district, Tandra Nikhil of Gudem, Mudimadugula Chandrasekhar of Tandoor village, Gummula Venkatesh of Birsani village of Buggaram mandal in Jagitial district and Madduri John Kennedy of Kazipet in Warangal Urban district.
Disclosing the details at a press meet here, police commissioner Pramod Kumar said that Tandra Pradeep alias Rayudu, the main accused in the case, was addicted to alcohol while working as a lorry driver. “He started stealing diesel from the lorries that were parked on highways. The accused along with a few other friends were involved in several motorcycle thefts in Mancherial district, Jagitial district, and under the Cyberabad police commissionerate limits. Rayudu was also sent to prison in the past in chain snatching, robbery and theft case. He was also accused of killing of his relative Bheemaiah and sent to prison,” the CP said adding that he was released on bail last year from prison and started committing thefts along with others.
“The gang broke open the locks of a ten locked houses at the Dharmasagar mandal centre on January 11 under Warangal Police Commissionerate,” the CP added. CCS Inspector Lakavathula Ramesh Kumar and others nabbed the gang.
