Warangal: Day 2 of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s district tour on Monday was all about health infra, role of media in these pandemic times and development of Warangal city into a hub of industrial, education and healthcare sectors that would compete with Hyderabad. “Warangal will become the headquarters for East Telangana region,” the Chief Minister declared.

Addressing elected representatives after inaugurating the Integrated District Collectorate Complex here, Chandrashekhar Rao said the proposed multi-super specialty hospital along with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health, Kakatiya Medical College, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital and other health facilities that are spread over 200 acre in the heart of Warangal city, will be developed into a massive health complex to offer all health services in one place.

The Chief Minister, who sanctioned a veterinary hospital for Warangal on Sunday, also announced establishment of a government dental college and hospital for the city. He also inaugurated the administrative block of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences and the Integrated Collectorate Complex of Warangal Urban district besides laying the foundation stone for the proposed multi-super specialty hospital on the premises of the old central prison.

Instructing the officials to develop the entire Health Complex in a planned manner, he said though the entire Health Complex will be one massive unit, it should have seperate and specific blocks representing each super specialty health services. “Since the existing building of the MGM Hospital is in a dilapidated condition, it should be demolished after relocating the patients. The MGM Hospital would be redeveloped as a Centre for Mother and Childcare for the entire region,” he said. The Ministers and other elected representatives were instructed to take up the responsibility and get the works completed in a time-bound manner.

The Chief Minister stated that the multi-super specialty hospital will be developed as a 33-storeyed structure with all super specialty medical services and will be equipped with an air-ambulance facility on the rooftop to offer emergency health services for even those residing in remote areas. “It will be state-of-the-art facility on the lines of Canada which is touted to have the best health infrastructure in the world. The hospital will be built within the next one-and-half years with best health infrastructure in the world. The building will be the tallest structure in Warangal city,” he said. He directed a team of elected representatives and officials from the Health and Roads and Buildings departments to visit Canada and study the health facilities to submit proposals to the State government for improving the healthcare facilities.

Stating that Mother and Childcare was a priority subject for the State government, he suggested setting up Mother and Childcare Centres in every erstwhile Taluk headquarters across the State to serve as a mini Niloufer Hospital for mother and childcare. He assured upgradation and development of the existing eye hospital as well.
