Hyderabad police have booked a man for allegedly impersonating a constable and posting misleading reels online. The accused, who claimed links with political leaders and accessed restricted areas, is absconding, with special teams deployed to trace him.
Hyderabad: A case has been registered at Saifabad Police Station against a man identified as Nikhil Yadav for allegedly impersonating a police constable and posting misleading social media reels in uniform.
He posed as a police officer and created videos suggesting he had influence within government circles.
It is suspected that he may have accessed the Telangana Secretariat using a visitor pass, raising concerns over possible security lapses.
Nikhil, who is believed to be from Gadwal, is currently absconding. He is also suspected to be involved in multiple cases in Andhra Pradesh. Special teams have been deployed to trace him.
In one of the viral videos, he claimed of having close proximity to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s and offered to arrange meetings with the CM.
He also claimed links with members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Police further said that on April 18, the accused shot another reel during an Indian Premier League match in Hyderabad, where he allegedly claimed to have match tickets and sold one to a spectator.
Efforts are underway to nab him.
