Jagtial: In an incident that drew sharp criticism, a physically-challenged man was forcefully removed from the venue of the public grievances programme Prajavani at Jagtial Collectorate on Monday.
Raja Gangaram, a resident of Mutyampet in Mallapur mandal, had gone to the Collectorate to submit a representation regarding his housing issue. Having raised the matter several times earlier without resolution, he had returned to Prajavani hoping to push for action.
However, a constable and Collectorate staff forcibly took him and his wheelchair out of the meeting hall, stating that the Collector was about to arrive. Witnesses said Gangaram had slipped off his wheelchair while trying to resist being taken out, but the constable and staff dragged him out of the hall.
Despite sitting at the entrance when Collector Satya Prasad arrived, Gangaram was ignored as the official entered the hall.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, prompting strong reactions. MLC K Kavitha took to X, questioning, “Is this Praja Palana?”
She demanded action against the constable involved, as well as the Collector “for not responding to the incident even if it took place in front of him.”
