Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Dilsukhnagar on Wednesday as a large number of unemployed youth and government job aspirants staged a massive protest demanding the Telangana Congress government immediately release the job calendar.
Slogans such as ‘We do not want Congress rule’, ‘We want justice’ and ‘Job calendar announced in the Assembly has to be released immediately’ filled the air as the unemployed organised a sit-in protest near the Metro Station.
Nearly 500 protesters from various libraries and hostels in Dilsukhnagar who turned up for the protest questioned the Congress government on its assurance of a job calendar and two lakh jobs. They lamented that the Congress during Assembly elections had promised to fill two lakh vacancies within one year, but did not release a single recruitment notification since it came to power.
“All the jobs so far recruited had been notified by the previous BRS government. Not even a single job notification has been issued by the Congress government until now. We demand immediate release of the job calendar and notifications for two lakh vacancies as assured to the unemployed youth,” said Indra Nayak, an unemployed youth.
With traffic movement coming to a halt, police personnel swung into action and detained the protesters.
