Water released from Yellampalli project as reservoir nears capacity
Due to continuous heavy inflows from the Kaddam project and upstream rainfall, the Sripada Yellampalli reservoir in Peddapalli district has reached near-full capacity. The project is currently receiving an inflow of 2.15 lakh cusecs.
Peddapalli: Irrigation officials on Saturday released water from the Sripada Yellampalli project as the reservoir continued to receive heavy inflows from the Kaddam project and upstream rainfall.
To regulate the water level, officials lifted 20 crest gates, releasing 66,807 cusecs of water downstream. The project is currently receiving an inflow of 2.15 lakh cusecs. Initially, 10 gates were lifted to discharge 13,007 cusecs, but with the inflows rising from 90,118 cusecs to 2.15 lakh cusecs, the number of gates was increased to 20.
