Rajanna Sircilla: A creative weaver from the textile town of Sircilla showcased his extraordinary skill by creating an exquisite handwoven silk sari featuring all 56 Telugu letters on a handloom on Friday.

Nalla Jagadish, the elder son of Nalla Parandhamulu, wove the sari featuring the Telugu letters, showcasing his mastery of the craft. He said it took him 15 days to create the sari, compared with three days required to weave a regular silk sari.

Jagadish said he procured the silk and other materials from a weekly shandy in Jangaon and estimated that the exclusive garment could be priced at around Rs 15,000.

The weaver said the sari, measuring 6.30 metres in length and 1.21 metres in width, weighed 650 grams. He noted that the pallu featured images of two deer and a Palapitta.

He said he would soon present the sari to Goddess Saraswati at Basar as a token of gratitude.

Jagadish said he was planning to conduct further experiments with his handloom in the future. He recalled that he had created a stitch-free gown a few years ago.

His father, Parandhamulu, had shot to fame four decades ago after weaving a tiny sari that could be packed in a matchbox, astounding people across the country.
