Hyderabad: At home, relaxation is no longer just about switching off screens or playing music. More people are now turning to scent-based relaxation to create a calmer environment after long, busy days.
Instead of relying on digital distractions, many are using incense sticks, essential oils, and scented candles to shift the mood of their space. Lavender and sandalwood are commonly chosen for evenings, while citrus and eucalyptus scents are often used during the day for a fresher, more alert feel.
“I usually light a candle or use a diffuser after work, it just makes my room feel calmer instantly,” said Shreya Ranjan, a yoga coach, reflecting a habit that is becoming more common in urban homes. “Even 10 minutes with a mild fragrance helps me slow down after a hectic day,” she added.
People are also incorporating scents into bedtime routines, switching off screens and letting calming fragrances take over instead. For many, it has become a small signal to the brain that it is time to unwind and step away from constant notifications and noise.
With fast-paced schedules and heavy screen use, scent-based relaxation is slowly becoming a simple way to make home spaces feel more peaceful and grounded.
