Hyderabad: A women attempted to kill herself by self-immolation at the Medchal-Malkajgiri district collectorate in Keesara here on Wednesday afternoon. The suicide bid was foiled by police personnel.
Police said the women, identified as K Lakshmi, K Sulochana and K Sujatha, all sisters, came to the commissionerate and picked up an argument with the staff demanding the sanction of double bedroom houses. Sulochana took out a bottle of kerosene and poured it on herself. Before she could set herself on fire by lighting a match, Suvarna, a woman police constable officer who was on duty there, stopped her, even as Sujatha and Laksmi were allegedly prompting Sulochana to go ahead with her attempt. According to the police, Sujatha had made a similar attempt earlier too.
The Keesara police booked a case against the women and shifted them to the Sakhi Centre for counselling.
